Months 7 and 8

At 7 months Nash has stepped up his need to be held by only his mom.  He's pretty clingy and gets nervous when other people hold him.  The other night I was gone for a whole half hour and he was fine for his dad but then started crying when I walked in the door like he realized he really needed me all of a sudden!?  He doesn't always make it easy for me to hold him either though.  I watch my friend pass her baby around to all the YW in church and he's easy-going and even falls asleep in someone else's arms.  Then there's my baby who won't fall asleep being held so I have to rock him in his car seat if we're at church and then when he wakes up he won't sit on my lap quietly, but makes me pace around and finally we just leave class because he's so disruptive. Oh well, I love his strong-willed personality and how he likes doing things a certain way--even if that means he's not the most flexible baby.

Nash still isn't sitting up on his own, but since I'm covering two months here, I can say he has it down and isn't so tipsy at 8 months! He no longer gets upset when he's on his tummy and rolls to his stomach more often. While he's tried a few new foods, he prefers the plain options like oatmeal and rice cereal.

I forgot to mention on his last update that he upbrutly stopped sucking his fingers to go to sleep. It was a short-lived habit that was pretty cute, but I guess it's better he doesn't keep it up and now we don't have to wean him from a binkie either.

One of Nash's favorite things at 8 months is water.  He loves baths and loves the swimming pool.  He doesn't stop splashing the whole time he's in the water.  He also loves to drink water and will get very upset if you have a water bottle and don't share.  And by drinking water I mean letting it sit in his mouth for a second then letting it drip all down his shirt.
Nash has been sleeping very good lately and taking longer naps thankfully.  He likes to grab at faces and has a lot of quirky ways he tries to communicate.  If he wants to be picked up he doesn't always reach his arms out like you'd expect, but instead puts his head down and grunts. He likes to click his tongue and makes lots of noise still.  He's getting more hair finally but it's hard to tell because it's so blonde, which is a fun change from the other boys.  And speaking of the other boys, he loves his big brothers--especially when they greet him after a nap.  I had to restrict them from climbing in his bed anymore though because I don't want them to break his crib.  I know it won't be long at all before he's getting into his brothers things and driving them crazy--should be fun!

School's out for summer

Hard to believe that school has been out for almost a month around here.  We had a busy start to summer with a trip to East Canyon and two weeks of swim lessons, but before I get to all that, here's what else we've been up to...

Jack went on a field trip to Staheli Farm, had his kindergarten program and assessment and got to wear his pj's the last day of school.  We loved his teacher and he's excited to start 1st grade--after a break of course.  Jack finished up his gym class--we decided to take a break for now since he's been busy with other sports.  He finished the soccer season then had a month of baseball where his dad was the coach.

We pitched the tent in the backyard one night so the boys could have a slumber party with Dewy.  They told scary stories, stayed up too late, and woke up too early--except for Ryan who managed to sleep through the bright sun and video game playing.  

We've also been riding bikes, swimming in our neighbor's fun pool or at the hotel, playing ball in the backyard, going fishing and starting a summer reading program.  If that's not enough, we made a list of  all the things we still hope to do so we can hang it on the fridge and cross things off as we go.  I'm hoping to find more time to blog once in a while so we can share the fun with our family (Hi Mom!).
